Start Half

Michael Owen's late consolation goal hasn't dampened the spirit of the crowd as they celebrate their team's first home win in four attempts. It was a frustrating first half for them, but their quality shone through in the second period, with two moments of individual brilliance and a fantastic team goal proving enough to give them a thoroughly deserved victory against a disappointing Stoke side. A run of one win in their last 21 away games will be a big concern for Tony Pulis, but not many teams will come to the Liberty Stadium and escape with a positive result this season. After an uninspiring start, this match soon sprung into life, with the highlights well worth viewing. Goodbye.
Ah, not quite seeing the game out as comfortably as they'd like though. Cameron Jerome curls in a cross from the right, and sub Michael Owen (who else?) glances his header into the far corner. Superb header - just a shame his first goal of the season counts for nothing.
Michael Owen gives the visitors a consolation goal.
There will be three minutes of injury time here. Swansea are just seeing the game out here. Their fans are in bouyant mood.
Tony Pulis' men have all but given up hope. They have been outplayed today, and a three-goal advantage is no less than Swansea deserve. Danny Graham's gossamer touch in the build-up to that last goal is well worth watching on Match of the Day tonight.
Swansea have three goals, and every one has been better than the last. A ball forward from midfield is deftly flicked on by sub Danny Graham, and into the path of Jonathan de Guzman, who calmly dispatches the ball into the bottom corner. Glorious goal.
De Guzman's second of the game gives Swansea a comprehensive lead.
The screams are more vociferous this time, as Ashley Williams' header back across the box is blocked by the arm of Huth again. Just like the first one, it would have been harsh as there was little distance between the two, but his arm was out-stretched.....
Michael Laudrup feels like this one is done and dusted. Shechter and Michu are replaced by Danny Graham and Leon Britton respectively.
Wayne Routledge's cross from the right hits the arm of Robert Huth in the area, and the majority of the Liberty Stadium are screaming for a penalty. It would have been harsh, though, as Huth's arm was by his side, and it was at point blank range.
For once, Stoke get a quality ball into the box, and after a Swansea head inadvertantly directs the ball into Cameron Jerome's path, he somehow lifts his effort over the bar from just three yards out. Replays show he was offside, but the linesman kept his flag down. That was their route back into this match.....
Stoke have a great chance to put the Swans defence under pressure here, with a wide free-kick. Glenn Whelan again takes it, but again, his delivery is sub-par, Michel Vorm collecting the ball under no pressure whatsoever. Frustrating times for the Potters.
Both teams making changes here, as Tony Pulis replaces the ineffectual Peter Crouch with Kenwyne Jones, and Pablo Hernandez comes off for Swansea, debutant Roland Lamah his replacement.
Stoke have three successive corners as they look for an unlikely route back into this game. Every one is cleared by a Swansea head though. Michael Laudrup will be delighted with his team's start to this half.
Well, Stoke will have to commit men forward now, that's for sure! De Guzman lines up a free kick, 30 yards out, just left of centre. He hits it like a dream as well, curling the ball over the wall and right into the top corner. Game over?
De Guzman gives Swansea a two-goal lead!
Where do the visitors go from here? They have mostly been set up to contain the attacking threat of Swansea, but now they are behind they will to have to abort that particular gameplan. However, if they push too many men forward, the pace and quality of players like Michu, Hernandez and Routledge could kill the game completely.
I told you the second half would improve! Young left-back Ben Davies shows the composure of a seasoned veteran here as he muscles Jonathan Walters off the ball, dribbles past Shawcross and Huth and slots the ball beyond Asmir Begovic with considerable ease. That's exactly what this match needed.
Ben Davies scores a fantastic goal to give Swansea the breakthrough!
This half has started in much the same fashion as the first one did. Swansea are passing the ball around nicely, but it is all in front of the Stoke back-line. When they do pull the trigger, through Jonathan de Guzman, it is way over.
Stoke get us back under way. Let there be goals.....
I'd love to tell you it's been an interesting first half, I really would. Unfortunately, it hasn't. The biggest cheer of that opening 45 minutes came when Peter Crouch was harshy penalised for a supposed foul. Tony Pulis will be happy with the way his team have frustrated the home side, and they had two good chances on the break that will give them hope of nicking a win in the second half. As for Swansea, they will be ruing an uncharacteristic sitter from Michu that could have given them the breakthrough. Surely the second period can only improve?
The visitors break quickly from a corner, getting midfielders forward for seemingly the first time in the game. Etherington runs with the ball, and he keeps running, his eventual shot well saved by Michel Vorm. Promising signs for Stoke fans.
Swansea are ending the half with aplomb here. Terrific skill by Wayne Routledge on the left as he skins his man, but his cross is scuffed wide by De Guzman. Really should have hit the target there.
Where's the real Michu, and what have you done with him? Angel Rangel robs Matthew Etherington of the ball on the right-side and whips in a pinpoint cross. It is just waiting to be buried, but Michu puts his free header wide of the far post.
Ki Sung-Yeung threads a ball through for Ben Davies to get on the end of in the Stoke area. He gets his shot away, but Huth is sliding in to block the ball behind. The resultant corner comes to nothing.
Matthew Etherington plays a lovely one-two down the left-hand side for the visitors, and he has a free shot at goal. It's on the angle, but his tame effort into the side netting sums up the lack of quality on show in this match so far. Best chance of the game, though.
Man City will know better than anyone that Peter Crouch can volley the ball. He's not quite as successful here though as he lashes his effort high and wide.
The game is lacking fluency at the moment, with no team having a sustained period of pressure. Stoke will certainly be the happier of the two so far though.
Tony Pulis looks livid on the touchline. Set pieces will have been something his side would have pratcised in the week, given the height difference between the two teams. Glenn Whelan's first corner doesn't have the desired effect, however, as it is easily cleared at the near post.
He's lucky he's made of stern stuff, Ryan Shawcross. After Michu tries an intricate one-two with Hernandez on the edge of the box, the ball just eludes him, and he can only succeed in kicking the Stoke defender right in the stomach as the ball is cleared. You don't need me to tell you that Shawcross got straight back up.
Just signs that the Potters are starting to take the wind out of Swansea's sails here. After a vibrant opening ten minutes from the hosts, Tony Pulis' men are having a period of midfield possession.
The away side have their first chance to launch the ball into the Swansea area courtesy of a central free kick. It is chipped in by Charlie Adam, but Ashley Williams is on hand to clear any potential danger.
The script is being followed as far as the opening exchanges are concerned. Swansea having a lot of possession and pressing high up the pitch, with Stoke defending solidly and getting plenty of men behind the ball.
Michu has failed to hit the target, I repeat, Michu has failed to hit the target. The ball breaks to him nicely on the edge of the area, but his left foot shot is way, way wide. The crowd were expectant there.....
It looks like a great opening chance for the Swans, but the offside flag is up. Itay Shechter was just beyond Robert Huth as he flicked the ball on to Pablo Hernandez, who fired the ball just wide.
Swansea get us under way, the home team in their usual all-white kit. Stoke in a rather unfamilair maroon and blue number.
Swansea: Vorm, Rangel, Monk, Williams, Davis, Hernandez, de Guzman, Ki, Michu, Routledge, Shechter. Subs: Tremmel, Bartley, Britton, Graham, Dyer, Lamah, Tiendalli. Stoke: Begovic, Whitehead, Huth, Shawcross, Cameron, Etherington, Whelan, Nzonzi, Adam, Walters, Crouch. Subs: Sorensen, Palacios, Jones, Owen, Upson, Kightly, Jerome. Referee: Mike Dean.
Midfielder Kemy Agustien will miss the next month of action for the home outfit after he picked up an ankle injury in the Cup against Arsenal in the week. Top scorer Michu, who started on the bench for that match, is likely to be recalled to the starting line-up. A back injury means defender Andy Wilkinson will most probably miss the game for Stoke, while Charlie Adam and Asmir Begovic look set to start the match after being rested in the Cup game against Crystal Palace on Tuesday night. Ryan Shotton, who has been missing with a hamstring injury, may also return.
Ever since being promoted from the Championship in 2007, Stoke's success in establishing themselves as a Premier League outfit has been largely down to their defensive stubbornness and meticulous organisation. Therefore, their recent record of having conceded ten goals in just three league matches will have manager Tony Pulis pulling whatever hair he has left out of his head. The main priority for his side will be to keep a much-needed clean sheet, but with the in-form trio of Jonathan Walters, Kenwyne Jones and Cameron Jerome all at his disposal, he will certainly feel as though they could just nick a valuable win.
Arguably the signing of the season at just £2m, Michu started his Swansea career like a man possessed, seemingly scoring goals for fun. With just one goal in his last five Premier League matches, however, he is going through somewhat of a drought by his lofty standards. As a result, Swansea have found wins hard to come by as of late, with four draws in their last five matches in the league. As the speculation regarding Danny Graham's potential loan move to Sunderland intensifies, it is clear that Michu needs to get his shooting boots on again if the Swans want to turn those draws into three points.
Good afternoon, and welcome to our live coverage of the Premier League clash between Swansea and Stoke. Despite having completely opposite styles of play, the fortunes of these two sides have been very similar as of late. Both have won just one of their last seven Premier League matches, and of their last ten meetings in the league, the record stands at five wins apiece. As if that wasn't enough, Michael Laudrup's men have not won at the Liberty Stadium in three matches, while the Potters have failed to score away from home in 285 minutes. Oh, and the Swans are just a point and a place better off in the league table. Pick a winner at your peril…..
