Start Half

A game of few chances has finished goaless at the Madejski Stadium. Swansea started strongly but had a Michu goal disallowed for offside. Reading woke up after half time and also had a goal disallowed, with Adam Le Fondre handling the ball into the back of the net. A draw is not enough to see Reading close the gap to the sides outside of the bottom three, whilst Swansea sit midtable. The visitors will be concerned about the injury to Michu, who picked up an awkward knock towards the end, but Reading know that one win in 19 will not be enough to see them avoid relegation. It's finished Reading 0-0 Swansea.
Stoppage time passes without incident and Mike Jones blows his whistle. It's a hard fought point for the hosts and a welcome clean sheet, whilst Swansea will feel it's two points dropped.
Four added minutes for either side to find the crucial goal.
Wayne Routledge plays the ball into the path of Jonathan De Guzman, but the midfielder tries to bring it under control and ends up conceding a free kick for a high foot.
The hosts are desparate for the opening goal and continue to push forward. Ian Harte again crosses the ball into the penalty area and once more Ashley Williams heads clear. Both managers are nervously encouraging their sides to find the crucial goal in the latter stages.
Reading are looking lively and almost grab a goal. Chris Gunter crosses into the path of Adam Le Fondre, and the striker's shot is on target. Vorm is beaten, but Chico Flores is able to head the shot off the line and the visitors hold on.
Groans from the Swansea fans, as Michu is struggling with an injury and is replaced by Itay Shechter. The Spanish playmaker has been instrumental for the visitors this season, and Michael Laudrup will be hoping it isn't too serious.
Neither side looks to be settling for a point and are both looking to grab the opening goal. A corner by Ian Harte is cleared by Flores, but Reading continue to throw more players forward. Swansea are looking to counter whenever they win the ball, having found the hosts resolute in their shape.
Adam Le Fondre is celebrating, but turns around to see Mike Jones disallowing the goal for a handball. Ian Harte whipped a dangerous cross in, but Le Fondre used his hand to knock the ball past Michel Vorm. The Reading striker is booked and the home fans aren't happy.
Swansea again press forward in numbers and the ball falls to Sung-Yueng Ki on the edge of the penalty area. His shot is well held by Adam Federici, but the visitors continue to have the majority of the chances.
Jonathan De Guzman and Kemy Agustien are on for Leon Britton and Luke Moore, with Michael Laudrup pinning his hopes on two players who were outstanding against Man Utd last week.
The visitors almost take the lead. A great cross by Wayne Routledge is headed on target by Dyer. Adam Federici races across goal and is able to parry the ball behind for a corner and the pressure mounts on the Reading goal.
First throw of the dice is from the hosts. Adam Le Fondre and Hal Robson-Kanu are both on for Pavel Pogrebnyak and Jobi McAnuff.
Pavel Pogrebnyak dives in late on Dwight Tiendalli and the referee is straight over to the incident. Mike Jones immediately waves a yellow card at the Reading forward and some Swansea players feel it should be a red. The defender needs treatment and the visitors can look to build another attack.
First booking of the game as Dwight Tiendalli is booked for a foul on Jobi McAnuff. Danny Guthrie plays a high ball into the penalty area, but Ashley Williams is on hand to head the ball out of play for a throw.
The visitors have started the half strongly, but Luke Moore is flagged for offside when through on goal. Reading manager Brian McDermott knows his side need to take more risks going forward if they are find the breakthrough, as draws won't be enough to close the gap at the bottom of the table.
The hosts get the second half underway as they look to record only their second win of the season.
It's half time and a fairly tame encounter has seen little to liven up the crowd. Swansea have dominated possession and should have taken the lead, but for a poor miss by Michu. Reading have grown in confidence as the half wore on, but Michel Vorm has yet to pull off a meaningful save. It's Reading 0-0 Swansea City.
The visitors go in search of the opening goal before the break. A cross by Wayne Routledge is floated towards Michu, but he can't overpower Adrian Mariappa in the air and the hosts clear. One minute of added time is announced by the fourth official.
Both sides have settled and chances are at a premium as we approach half time. A shot by Nathan Dyer from range is high and wide. Reading had started nervously but are playing with more confidence as the game progresses.
The home crowd have found their voice and Reading almost take the lead. Jimmy Kebe plays the ball into the box and the advancing Jobi McAnuff is denied by a last ditch interception from Dwight Tiendalli. The visitors clear, but the hosts are on the front foot.
Michu has a great opportunity to give Swansea the lead. Dwight Tiendalli crosses into the path of the Spaniard, but he only manages to divert the ball over the bar from close range.
Jimmy Kebe plays the ball into the path of Pavel Pogrebnyak and the Russian striker has a great chance to give his side the lead. However the striker shows a lack of confidence and hits the ball wide of goal.
Swansea appear to have dropped a level in tempo since the early stages and they are allowing Reading to gain a foothood. Ian Harte whips another free kick into the penalty area, but it's cleared by Flores and Swansea can look to build again.
The game has settled down and the visitors are having the majority of the ball at the Madejski Stadium. The hosts are beginning to threaten, with a Jobi McAnuff cross blocked by Ashley Williams.
Leon Britton fouls Jobi McAnuff and the hosts have a free kick. Ian Harte whips a cross into the penalty area, and the ball bobbles to Kebe. His effort is poorly executed and the ball goes behind for a goal kick.
Michu has the ball in the back of the net, but Mike Jones has blown for a foul on Adrian Mariappa. Reading will feel themselves fortunate not to have gone behind, as Michu showed a quick turn of pace to get through the defence.
The visitors continue to have the chances in the early stages. Leon Britton whips a corner in, but it is cleared by Harte for another corner. This time Sung-Yueng Ki plays the ball in, but Wayne Routledge can only knock it behind for a goal kick and the chance is gone.
Mikele Leigertwood fouls Dyer and the visitors have a free kick in a dangerous position on the edge of the penalty area. Sung-Yueng Ki lines it up, but hits the shot over the bar to the relief of the home fans. Swansea have started well in the early stages and Michael Laudrup will be hoping his side continue the pressure.
First chance for Swansea and it falls to Michu. The in-form playmaker has time and space to let loose a driven effort that beats Federici, but also beats the post.
Chico Flores gives the ball away and Reading press forward. Danny Guthrie bursts into the penalty area, but is challenged by Leon Britton. A few fans cry for a penalty, but Mike Jones is close to the incident and waves play on.
Swansea get the first half underway at the Madejski Stadium.
Two changes from Michael Laudrup. Jonathan De Guzman and Kemy Agustien are replaced by Luke Moore and Sung-Yueng Ki.
One change for the hosts from the side narrowly defeated by Manchester City. Danny Guthrie comes in for Jay Tabb, whilst Jason Roberts continues to be sidelined by injury.
There's tension in the Reading side, as Jimmy Kebe has publicly questioned the decision not to strengthen the side during the summer. Kebe is seen by many to be one of the key attacking players for the hosts, and if McDermott uses him it will be interesting to see how successful he is in unlocking the Swansea defence. Michu continues to be the focal point for the visitors, having added another crucial goal against Manchester United. The playmaker represents great business for Michael Laudrup, having been snatched from Rayo for a two million pound fee. There will no doubt be bigger clubs keeping a close eye on his performance today ahead of the January transfer window.
Swansea have defied numerous critics again this season, with Michael Laudrup picking up a number of players from Spain, who have taken the Premier League by storm. The visitors have already picked up 10 points from their travels, which is seven more than at this stage last season. A hard fought draw against Manchester Utd last time out will have done no harm to the growing confidence within the camp.
Reading have been conceding goals for fun this season, including 18 at the Madejski Stadium. However a strong defensive performance away at Manchester City last week has given renewed optimism that Brian McDermott can get things right at the back and build a solid platform from which the hosts can pick up points.
Mike Jones returns to the Madejski Stadium for the second time this season, having reffed the thrilling 3-3 draw between the hosts and Fulham back in October. Reading will be hoping to go one better today and claim three crucial points. Swansea have won every Premier League game that Jones has reffed involving them, so won't want that particular statistic to change this afternoon.
A big game at the Madejski Stadium, as Reading host Swansea City looking to record only their second win of the season. The hosts finished last season magnificently to clinch promotion, but it appears that they will need to replicate that in the coming months in order to avoid relegation. The visitors have continued to flourish in the top flight under Michael Laudrup, as they sit 11th in the table with a relegation dogfight being avoided so far. The experienced manager will know he cannot rest on his laurels, and will want his side to continue the good work so far this season.
