Start Half

Danny Graham struck the only goal of the game in what proved to be an entertaining match full of chances for both teams. The game kicked off with Swansea playing the best football and they very nearly broke the deadlock on nine minutes through Danny Graham but he failed to connect. Liverpool upped their game and nearly scored through Maxi Rodriguez and Andy Carroll – both missing by inches. Right on half time Andy Carroll and Ashley Williams got into a scrap and were lucky to only be shown yellow cards. The second half kicked off very much like the first half, Swansea applying constant pressure on Liverpool's goal but this was to no avail. Liverpool created several chances of their own but were wasteful on every occasion. However, with three minutes left up popped Danny Graham to slam home the winner. It was a valiant performance from Liverpool but the final score was 1-0 meaning Swansea finish in the hugely satisfying position of eleventh while Liverpool will be upset with an eighth place position.
Mark Halsey blows the whistle and brings a close to both team's seaons - a very end to end game.
The referee indicates three minutes of added time as Liverpool surge forward in search of an equaliser.
Swansea's influential midfielder makes way for Mark Gower in his last appearance of his loan spell, he's had a brilliant game.
Danny Graham scores the opening goal of the game with only three minutes remaining on the clock after a lovely cross along the floor from Angel Rangel - that's his 100th career goal.
An exquisite dink into the box is just inches away from Martin Kelly's boot but the ball goes out for a goal kick.
Jordan Henderson has acres of space near the edge of the penalty area and his cross doesn't find a man. The young Englishman hasn't had the best of games.
Substitute Wayne Routledge sprints down the left wing to get the ball and is put under extreme pressure from Glen Johnson who eventually forces Routledge to lose the ball which results in a goal kick for Alexander Doni to take.
Reminiscent of Angel Rangel's cross just moments ago, Neil Taylor breaks down the left and his cross, like Rangel's, flies way over the net and out.
Swansea attack down the right wing through full back Angel Rangel and his cross floats above everyone and goes out of play - wasteful to say the least.
Andy Carroll is again looking likely to break the deadlock as he finds space to get a shot off but hits the ball straight at Michel Vorm.
Liverpool gain a corner and look the most likely to score, a fantastic delivery from Suarez gives Daniel Agger a header on goal but it goes into the keeper's hands.
The ball is played into Luis Suarez who goes to set himself up with a nice little touch but hits it just a little bit too far and the ball is cleared of all danger.
Craig Bellamy lashes a shot across goal in hope of beating Michel Vorm but his effort rolls out for a goal kick resulting in little jeers from the Swansea fans at his misfortune.
A great delivery from Gylfi Sigurdsson causes havoc in the Liverpool penalty area and Andy Carroll seems to pull out of his clearance which very nearly results in Swansea taking the lead.
Ex-Cardiff winger Craig Bellamy comes into the mix and replaces the ineffective Stewart Downing, he'll definitely be looking to score against his old clubs' fiece rivals.
Liverpool are starting to show the quality passing moves they showed towards the end of the first half, they're looking the most likely to score.
A long throw in from Glen Johnson falls to Andy Carroll who flicks the ball up and produces a magnificent overhead kick which forces an equally good save from Michel Vorm.
Danny Graham is set free down the right side of the field and brings the ball inside and passes to Nathan Dyer who dawdles on the ball and gets closed down. There's some great build up play on show today.
Jordan Henderson picks up the ball 30 yards out and curls it towards the top corner but Michel Vorm is again there for Swansea. The lack of pace on the ball means it's never going to get past the keeper.
The ball comes down the line to Stewart Downing who can't pick a man out as no one anticipates his cut back.
The final period of the season is up and running, both teams will be looking to end their seasons in style.
The two teams went into the half time break with the score at 0-0 but both had their fair share of chances to take the lead. Swansea looked the most likely in the early exchanges, Danny Graham inches away from turning in Joe Allen's low cross. Liverpool found their way in the game and created great chances through both Maxi Rodriguez and Andy Carroll but it still remains goalless at the break. Swansea will likely be looking to cut down on the errors they have been making whilst Liverpool‘s main chances have come on counter attacks through these mistakes. Swansea are really showing their passing skill and more of the same may result in them getting the breakthrough.
Mark Halsey blows his whistle to signal the end of the first half.
Andy Carroll and Ashley Williams get into a scrap on the half way line and Carroll throws Williams onto the floor, the referee issues a yellow card each. Both players should be sent off for that.
Nathan Dyer gets a shot off in a crowded penalty area only for the ball to come back out to Scott Sinclair who completely misses.
Swansea again give the ball away in the centre of the park and allow Liverpool to surge forward, the ball comes through to Andy Carroll who blazes his shot way over. Carroll and Suarez are not really offering anything up front.
Glen Johnson picks up the ball on his weaker foot and sends a cross in but the ball is way over Carroll's head and bounces out for a goal kick.
Neil Taylor runs down the wing and cuts inside past Martin Kelly only to see his tame effort saved gratefully by Alexander Doni.
Gylfi Sigurdsson turns into a Liverpool midfielder who plays in Luiz Suarez and the Uruguayan lofts a great ball into Andy Carroll whose headed effort is cleared away.
Gylfi Sigurdsson curls a free kick around the wall and the ball looks destined for the bottom left corner until Doni flies across his goal to get a strong hand to it.
Jonjo Shelvey falls on top of Gylfi Sigurdsson and gives away the free kick in a really dangerous area, big chance here.
Some neat passing on the edge of the box from the Swans allows them the chance to try and slot in Danny Graham but Liverpool's defence manage to deal with it.
The ball comes over the shoulder of Andy Carroll who flicks his left leg out to try and play in Luis Suarez but Steven Caulker just manages to nip in at the last minute to clear the danger.
Glen Johnson whips in a marvellous cross which Michel Vorm manages to just get a hand to only for Stewart Downing to give away possession on the edge of the box. The winger needs to up his game.
Jordan Henderson receives the ball in space but his chipped through ball is way off the mark and goes out for a goal kick.
Liverpool are replicating Swansea's passing to good effect and are just waiting for the right time to come forward.
Glen Johnson plays the ball in-field to Maxi Rodriguez who tries his luck from 25 yards, Swansea carved right open there.
The free kick comes to nothing after Maxi Rodriguez makes a great block to deny a Scott Sinclair pile driver.
The ball is played back from Andy Carroll and Alexander Doni just picks the ball up and gives away a free kick in the box. A real lapse of concentration there.
Joe Allen does really well to break through and plays in a great low cross but Danny Graham is inches away from making contact and slotting it in at the far post.
Swansea are still playing the ball around Liverpool's players but are unable to penetrate their defence. Possession is all Swansea's.
Luis Suarez closes Michel Vorm down after a poor backpass and the keeper kicks the ball needlessly into touch for a Liverpool throw deep inside Swansea's half.
Swansea safely playing the ball around their own half, trying to find a way through. Some great passing on show.
Liverpool get the ball rolling, we're underway!
Two changes for Kenny Dalglish's team today as Alexander Doni and Martin Kelly come in for Jose Reina and Martin Skrtel. Full lineup: Doni; Kelly, Agger, Carragher, Johnson; Downing, Henderson, Shelvey, Rodriguez; Carroll, Suarez. Subs: Jones, Enrique, Coates, Kuyt, Spearing, Sterling, Bellamy.
No fresh injury worries for Brendan Rodgers' team with Ferrie Bodde and Kemy Agustien still sidelined after picking up injuries at the start of the season. Full lineup: Vorm; Taylor, Williams, Caulker, Rangel; Allen, Britton, Sigurdsson, Sinclair, Dyer; Graham. Subs: Tremmel, Tate, Monk, Gower, Edwards, Routledge, Moore.
It's eighth against twelfth this afternoon at the Liberty Stadium as Swansea entertain Liverpool in the final game of what has proved to be a season full of twists and turns in the Premier League. The Swans will be looking to cap a memorable season by finishing in the top half of the table with a win today, whilst their opponents from across the border may look back on the season as a massive disappointment after winning only five of their 18 Premier League games in 2012, despite thumping Chelsea 4-1 on Tuesday.
Since Brendan Rodgers took the job at Swansea he's guided them to the promised land of the Premier League and seen his side grace the field with some sensational passing football. Swansea looked set for a top half finish after three straight wins in March but their form has dipped in recent weeks and the Welsh club have won only once in their last eight outings and taken a mere five points from an available 24.
At the start of the season Swansea's home defence was near impenetrable, after they conceded just four goals in their opening ten league games but this form has slowly faltered throughout the season. They have already taken the scalps of both Arsenal and Manchester City at the Liberty Stadium whilst earning a hard fought draw against Chelsea and have tasted defeat here on only four occasions.
Nothing less than a win will be acceptable today if manager Kenny Dalglish hopes to retain his place in charge at the club. After spending big amounts in the summer transfer window, Liverpool's season has built up to be quite the anti-climax and a loss will see them achieve their worst finish to a season since they attained eighth place in 1994. Notable summer acquisition Stewart Downing has misfired on all cylinders after failing to hit the target in 65 attempts and not being credited with a single assist this term.
It's been an injury hit season for skipper Steven Gerrard meaning he has featured in only 18 matches this campaign, in which he has scored five goals. The influential playmaker has scored 18 goals combined in his last three seasons after finding the net 16 times in the 2008-09 season that saw Liverpool acquire second spot. The Anfield club have accumulated 21 of their 52 points when their captain has been involved in proceedings.
The man in the middle and overlooking today's game is Bolton-based Mark Halsey, who will be officiating his 21st match of the season this afternoon. Refereeing in the Premier League since 1999, Halsey has shown 53 yellow cards this year and has not had to issue a red card. If he doesn't reach for his back pocket this afternoon then this will be the first season in which he has refereed more than 20 games and not sent a player off.
