FULL TIME

The final whistle goes and Bolton have been relegated from the Premier League. QPR conceded two goals in the closing stages in Manchester, meaning that a victory would have been enough here, unfortunately for the visitors it wasn't to be and the club will have to prepare for Championship football next season. Stoke will be content with their performance, but events elsewhere dictated the match and Bolton looked downbeat having heard QPR were in front for long periods elsewhere. Stoke had taken the lead through Walters, before Bolton gave themselves a fighting chance with goals from Mark Davies and Kevin Davies, but a Jonathan Walters penalty in the second half denied Bolton the victory they needed to survive. It's finished Stoke City 2-2 Bolton.

TIME RUNNING OUT

A long range effort from Ream is hit wide and there's a sense of resignation in the air that the visitors will be playing in the Championship next season.

Four minutes of added time, and Bolton need a winning goal or they will be relegated from the Premier League.

PRESSING FORWARD

The visitors are urgently seeking a winning goal. A corner from Petrov is cleared by Shotton for another corner. This time Lee plays the ball to Petrov, but his shot is over the bar.

OFFSIDE

The ball is in the back of the Bolton net, but the linesman has raised his flag and Cameron Jerome has been denied a potentially winning goal. Tony Pulis is unhappy, but there's still a glimmer of hope for Bolton.

SUBSTITUTION

Chris Eagles is replaced by Chung-Yong Lee, as Owen Coyles looks for a winning goal. His side need encouragement, with news from elsewhere having reached the players and an evident drop in confidence. Stoke have been lifted by the equaliser, and Tony Pulis will feel his side can win this game also.

GOOOAAALLL!!!

Jonathan Walters makes no mistake from the spot and powerfully drives the ball past Bogdan into the back of the net. It's Stoke 2-2 Bolton and the visitors have to grab a goal and hope for action elsewhere.

PENALTY!!!!

Stoke have a chance to equalise as Peter Crouch is brought down by Bogdan. There's no doubt in the referee's mind and the hosts do have a chance to equalise.

STOKE CHANCE

The hosts finally test Bogdan in this half. Peter Crouch turns and volleys at goal, but there's no power in the shot and the goalkeeper can smother the ball.

MOANS AND GROANS

The Stoke fans are unhappy with Chris Foy, as Glenn Whelan is sent sprawling from a Davies tackle. The referee felt the challenge was fair, and Bolton regain possession.

SUBSTITUTION

Ivan Klasnic is replaced by David N'Gog up front for the visitors, and Owen Coyle will have received news from elsewhere. His side are doing their bit, and preventing Stoke from putting together any meaningful attacks.

GOAL ELSEWHERE

Remarkable news coming from Manchester. QPR have taken the lead despite having ten men and that means Bolton's win here is meaningless as it stands. Bolton fans in the crowd are in shock, and it remains to be seen if we see a drop in performance here.

Tony Pulis makes another change. Ryan Shotton is on in place of Matthew Upson.

BOLTON CHANCE

The visitors are doing all they can in the fight against the drop. A cross from Eagles can't find Davies, and the hosts can clear. Stoke have offered very little in this half, with only Jerome threatening Bogdan's goal.

QUIET

Neither side are pressing forward with much urgency. Bolton are content with their slender lead, but know that their future relies on news from elsewhere. Tony Pulis encourages his side forward, but the hosts appear to have lost a spark in recent weeks and the tiredness is beginning to creep in.

Ricardo Fuller receives a standing ovation, as he is replaced by Cameron Jerome. Fuller might have played his last game for the hosts, but the fans will have plenty of memories from a player who played a pivotal role in their first season in the top flight.

Bolton fans have now gone quiet, as relegation rivals QPR have scored an equaliser against Manchester City. That goal sends Bolton back into the bottom three on goal difference.

SECOND HALF

Chris Foy gets the final 45 minutes of the season underway. As it stands Bolton are safe, but the final day drama is always full of twists and turns. A Stoke equaliser would send them back into the relegation zone.

HALF TIME

The teams head off down the tunnel, and the smiles on the faces of the Bolton players tell the story. The visitors fell behind to an early Walters goal, but two slices of luck have given them a half time lead with Mark Davies and Kevin Davies on the scoresheet. It's Stoke City 1-2 Bolton.

Two added minutes announced and the Bolton fans can't believe what they have seen in the past ten minutes.

Remarkably, Bolton are in front and it's a howler from Thomas Sorensen. Kevin Davies is on the touchline and crosses into the area, the ball flies past two onrushing players, but also past the flapping Sorensen and into the net. A crazy five minutes and as it stands Bolton are out of the bottom three. It's Stoke 1-2 Bolton.

GOAL ELSEWHERE

Bolton fans have been lifted by that equaliser, and there's good news from Manchester, as relegation rivals QPR are a goal down to Manchester City. It's not enough to keep Bolton up, but it's certainly a glimmer of hope and the visitors know they have to win today.

Bolton have clawed themselves level and it's a comedy of errors. Robert Huth tries to clear the ball, but instead hits it off the back of a Bolton player and Mark Davies doesn't waste the chance to knock the ball into the net. A bizzarre goal, but a much needed one for Bolton. It's Stoke 1-1 Bolton.

FIRST BOOKING

Samuel Ricketts is the first player cautioned by Chris Foy for a foul on Jonathan Walters. Tony Pulis was very unhappy with the challenge, but the decision went his sides way.

MUCH BETTER

The visitors are now taking control of this game, Martin Petrov the latest player to bring the ball forward and attempt a low drive, that drifts wide.

TOP SAVE

Bolton have awoken from their slumber and again almost equalise. The ball falls to Klasnic on the edge of the area, and his low shot is parried behind by Sorensen for a corner, which is ultimately cleared.

WOODWORK RATTLED

Bolton finally put some pressure on the Stoke defence, a cross by Petrov is met by Davies, but his header rattles the woodwork and goes out of play. Owen Coyle is encouraging his side forward, knowing that they need to up the tempo.

LITTLE ACTION

For a must win game, Bolton have been poor and Stoke are in cruise control. The hosts are content to not push forward themselves, and risk being caught on the counter. Tony Pulis will certainly be happier of the two managers.

ALMOST A SECOND

The hosts continue to put pressure on the Bolton defence. This time Jonathan Walters turns and shoots, but the ball goes across the six yard box and out of play. Owen Coyle will be pondering what he can do, as his side have offered little attacking threat in a game where they must win.

CONTROL

The hosts have taken control of the game and are restricting the visitors. Another corner is crossed in by Whelan, but Knight is able to clear for a throw.

RESPONSE NEEDED

Owen Coyle's side have offered little since conceding the opening goal. They do win their first corner of the game, but Eagles can't deliver a decent cross and Upson can clear.

Stoke take the lead and it's Jonathan Walters with the finish. Matthew Etherington whips the ball into the box, and Bogdan makes a mess of collecting the cross, leaving Walters with a simple finish to send the hosts into an early lead. Bolton need to win this to have a chance at survival, but can't get any foothold in the game. It's Stoke 1-0 Bolton.

STOKE CHANCE

A quick throw in is taken by Wilkinson and finds Crouch. The striker turns and shoots, but can't get it on target and the chance is wasted. Bolton can't get going, and the hosts are playing without pressure.

FIRST SNIFF FOR BOLTON

The visitors earn a free kick in the Stoke half, but Martin Petrov attempts an audacious effort that drifts over the bar for a goal kick.

GOOD SAVE

Stoke have the first big chance of the game. Whelan's shot is blocked and Fuller gets to the rebound, bypasses Boyata and sees a low drive saved by Bogdan for a corner. Wilkinson whips the ball into the penalty area, but Ream is able to clear.

NERVY START

The hosts have started the better of the sides in the opening stages, but have yet to register a shot at goal. A cross by Matthew Etherington is cleared by Knight, but Davies can't get to the clearance and Stoke regain possession.

UNDERWAY

The hosts get the game underway as they look to finish the season on a high. Only a victory will do for Bolton in their fight against the drop.

Two changes by Owen Coyle. Ivan Klasnic does start up front in place of David N'Gog, whilst David Wheater is replaced by Zat Knight.

Tony Pulis makes three changes from last week. Andy Wilkinson, Dean Whitehead and Matthew Etherington all return to the starting eleven. Ricardo Fuller starts on what could be his last game for the hosts.

ONES TO WATCH

Tony Pulis adopted a new attacking lineup last time out against Stoke, with Peter Crouch at the front of a three man attack. It remains to be seen wherever this approach is taken today, but Bolton have suffered from set pieces all season and Crouch will be hoping to give new England manager Roy Hodgson food for thought with a performance today. Ivan Klasnic is Bolton's top goalscorer with eight goals, but Owen Coyle has been reluctant to start him, this could be his big chance to make himself a hero amongst the fans should he net the goals that keep the visitors up.

WIN OR BUST

Bolton let a two goal lead slip to West Brom last time out, meaning that the pressure is on them to pull off a victory here and hope for a favour elsewhere. Owen Coyle has spoken about the financial implications for both players and the club, with 14 player contracts expiring this summer. This could be the last chance for many in the Bolton shirt, and there is no greater motivation than to drag the club to safety.

ENDING ON A HIGH

The focus might be on Bolton, but Stoke have plenty to play for in their pursuit of a new highest finish for the club. Each place in the table has been valued at around £800,000 and Tony Pulis would love a bit of extra cash to help bolster potential transfer spending. He knows Bolton will be up for it, but there will also be the thought of revenge, having seen his side defeated 5-0 at the Reebok earlier in the campaign.

MAN IN THE MIDDLE

Chris Foy has been named the official for this crunch game. Foy actually refereed Stoke's last home game against Arsenal, which ended in a 1-1 draw. A similar scoreline today would not be enough to save Bolton, and the visitors have yet to win when Foy has taken charge this season.

PREVIEW

The final day of the Premier League is upon us, and for the second season in a row, a relegation threatened side visit the Britannia Stadium hoping to pull off a final day miracle. Bolton know that only a win would give them a chance of survival, and then all eyes would be on how QPR perform against title chasing Manchester City. Wigan pulled off the great escape on this ground last season, and Bolton know that this is their only chance now to avoid a relegation that could have consequences both on and off the pitch. Stoke could still finish as high as 11th, which would present a new record high finish for the club, but they have lost on the final day in the past three seasons.
