West Ham will be gutted to not have got a victory against a disappointing Everton side after Scott Parker controlled the game for the home side. Saha gave his side the lead with a fine strike in the first-half but that came against the run of play. The start of the second-half saw an improvement from the away side and they doubled their lead after Gosling knocked in a rebound from Green. However, after the second goal Everton capitulated and immediately conceded a goal. West Ham took heart from the goal and piled the pressure on the Toffees with Howard making a number of great saves.
Wiley blows for full-time.
Parker evades the offside trap and crosses the ball into the box. Fortunately for Everton the ball drops nicely for Howard and he dives on it.
The Everton manager is screaming at his defence to hold a higher line.
There will be five minutes of added time.
The home side have not given up on this game yet. Diamanti is even demanding the fourth official adds the appropriate injury time on.
Finally the away side have managed to pick up some possession and attack West Ham. They have a corner kick that they won`t be in a rush to take.
The away players have totally lost their composure and there are a number of shouting matches going on between the blues players.
Diamanti sends a dipping free-kick towards goal but Howard is there to save. That was a nice height for the keeper.
Lucas Neill comes on for Gosling as Everton look to hold on to their lead.
Yobo pulls back Hines when the striker gets in behind and goes into the book.
Another West Ham break and Hines fails to hit the target. The striker couldn`t hit a cow with a banjo, today.
West Ham break clear and pull the Everton defence to pieces. Hines goes through on goal but toe pokes it past the post when he should have scored.
The right midfielder is showing the better parts of his game by running at the Everton defence and he is forcing the opposition to drop deeper.
The home side have been rallied by that goal and are really pushing Everton. The Toffees are going to have to dig in for the remainder of the game.
Game on! A ball over the top catches Everton out and Stanislas beats Howard. Hibbert tries to hack the ball off the line but only succeeds in blasting it into his own net.
Cahill finds Yakubu, who flicks it to Gosling. The winger strikes a shot at goal, which Green parries straight back to Gosling. This time the youngster doesn`t make a mistake and hammers the ball into the net.
Parker breaks out with the ball and finds Stanislas. The midfielder shoots past the despairing Howard, but it goes the wrong side of the post.
The striker tries to make his way towards the penalty area, but he is stopped by two West Ham players. Wiley allows play to continue.
Alessandro Diamanti replaces Luis Jimenez.
Saha limps off and on comes Yakubu.
Bad news for the Toffees as it looks like the striker has a hamstring problem.
The away side are being patient and saying to West Ham: "beat us if you can". Something of a dangerous tactic.
Another stupid foul by Fellaini and it is the fourth time this season that the midfielder has gone into the referee's book.
The Hammers are really pushing forward and this time Distin is forced to sweep up.
Hibbert lunges in on Hines and gives away a free-kick. Wiley also puts the right-back into the book.
The home side start well and immediately stretch Everton to force a corner.
We are back underway at Upton Park.
Collison is replaced by Junior Stanislas.
West Ham will feel extremely frustrated after a bright 45 minutes, which saw Parker control the midfield. However, one moment of magic from Saha has given Everton the lead after he turned and struck the ball past Green. The away side started slowly, constantly giving the ball away to the Hammers and had Hines been a little more aware then the home side would surely have been in the lead. However, Zola's side failed to test Howard with any shots and lacked a cutting edge, especially with Carlton Cole missing through injury.
Wiley blows the whistle for the break.
That goal has given the Toffees some confidence and they are starting to look better on the ball.
A silly tackle from Fellaini but he avoids a booking, just.
The referee has brought play to a halt as the Everton left-back is down and looking to be in some in pain.
Panic in the Everton defence after Distin slices his clearance but the Everton right-back is there.
West Ham should take some heart from the fact that Everton have only kept five clean sheet in 18 games in all competitions this season.
The home fans can`t quite believe they are a goal behind and you can hear a pin drop.
Saha does it again. Everton's first shot on target ends up being the first goal of the game. The away side break and Saha turns to fire past Green. A great goal but against the run of play.
Wiley won`t fall for such poor subterfuge from the West Ham midfielder. However, surely he should be booking such play acting?
Parker slides a fine looking pass towards Hines and, just as the young forward looks to have escaped, in steps Yobo to save the day.
Hines finds Parker and the midfielder runs at Yobo. The centre-back stays tight and the shot goes straight at Howard.
Finally, the away side force some kind of pressure and win a corner. The cross is delivered well but there is no blue shirt near the ball.
Whilst West Ham have clearly dominated possession there has been very little of note occuring. Everton will be happy given their awful start.
The home side are getting time and space on the ball to spread play about as Everton continue their slow start.
Moyes has opted for a rather makeshift due to injuries to his side. However, his side needs to get forward in support of Saha and tighter to a rather energetic West Ham side.
The home side are looking full of confidence and are taking the game to their opponents. Everton look static and tired.
The right-back hs possession by his own corner flag but fails to clear and Collison is allowed to drive into the box. Everton just manage to clear.
The young Hammers striker is full of pace and could be a real problem for the Everton defence.
Cahill has started out wide on the left with Fellaini looking to support Saha.
After the one minute silence, the game is underway.
Dan Gosling replaces Diniyar Bilyaletdinov following the Russian's sending off last week. Louuis Saha starts up-front on his own but will get support from Tim Cahill and Marouane Fellaini.
A couple of problems for Gianfranco Zola as talisman striker Carlton Cole is injured as is Herita Ilunga. Jonathan Spector comes in at left-back with Zavon Hines starting in attack alongside Guillermo Franco.
It has been eight games since the Toffees kept a clean sheet and the problems at the back must be causing David Moyes a major headache. With Joleon Lescott gone and Phil Jagielka out until Christmas, it is up to the manager to come up with a solution to the problems. The goal by Villa last week and Benfica's second goal highlighted the confidence and communication problems in Everton's back-four, something that must improve if they are to start picking up points.
It took 81 days but West Ham finally grabbed their second victory of their season, and their first since the opening game when they beat Villa 2-1 on Wednesday. Gianfranco Zola will be hoping that the confidence will flow back to his side's game and that they will grab a win to leap-frog Everton.
November was meant to be the month when Everton saw a surge in first team numbers as their treatment room slowly emptied. However, they have been rocked by two huge blows as Mikel Arteta and Phil Jagielka have had to undergo further operations on their injured knees.
Alan Wiley must be breathing a sigh of relief after the furore over Ferguson's ‘tubbygate' comments finally died down The official must be glad to be out of the spotlight, one that now focuses on the referees who made some terrible decisions last week.
