Start Half

Celtic's hopes of reaching the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League are a distant dream after being humbled 3-0 by Juventus at Parkhead. The Biaconeri broke the deadlock just three minutes into the clash as Alessandro Matri stole in ahead of defender Efe Ambrose before poking the ball past Fraser Forster, despite Kelvin Wilson's best efforts to try and keep it out. Despite the growing pressure, Neil Lennon's men eventually ran out of steam. Claudio Marchisio bagged a second after 77 minutes with a calm finish after leaving Scott Brown for dead and Mirko Vucinic added the icing on the cake for the Old Lady with a well-taken third seven minutes from time. The Hoops will need a miracle in Turin when the sides meet in the second leg on 6 March.
Referee Alberto Undiano Mallenco puts an end to Celtic's miserable night by blowing his whistle for the end of the game. The Scottish side have been well and truly humbled 3-0 by mighty Juventus.
There will be THREE added minutes at the end of this game. Neil Lennon watches on in shock after seeing his team simply dismantled by crack Italian outfit Juventus tonight.
Charlie Mulgrew tests Gianluigi Buffon with a left-foot free-kick from just outside the area. Meanwhile, Claudio Marchisio is booked for wasting time.
Nicolas Anelka, remember him? Well, he's replaced Mirko Vucinic and with just a couple of minutes remaining, the home fans are exiting the stadium in droves.
Efe Ambrose is caught dawdling on the ball and Claudio Marchisio picks out Mirko Vucinic who takes his time before slotting the ball past Fraser Forster to surely put this tie beyond the reach of Celtic now. Three goals to nil is surely too much to make up, especially with a home game in Turin to come for Antonio Conte's Biaconeri.
MIRKO VUCINIC
Scott Brown is replaced by Biram Kayal while former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba comes on for Juventus in place of the first goalscorer Alessandro Matri.
Alessandro Matri plays a killer pass through for Claudio Marchisio, who calmly cuts back onto his right-foot leaving Scott Brown on his backside, before beating Fraser Forster at his near post. Head coach Antonio Conte jumps up and down only too aware how crucial a goal that might prove to be.
CLAUDIO MARCHISIO
Celtic win another corner, but Charlie Mulgrew overcooks it. Meanwhile, referee Alberto Undiano Mallenco shows another couple of yellow cards, this time to Scott Brown and substitute Simone Padoin.
Tony Watt comes on to replace that hard-working Kris Commons. The 19-year-old was the man who scored the second goal against Barcelona. He was 18 at the time, so no fear on a young man's shoulders.
There is all sorts of shenanigans going on in the Juventus area as Kelvin Wilson swings the ball over, but Gianluigi Buffon calmly collects.
Federico Peluso is struggling and the medical team are on to have a look at him. Peluso is in fact replaced by Simone Padoin, so he must have taken a heavy knock.
At the other end Mirko Vucinic's goalbound effort is cleared by Kelvin Wilson with goalkeeper Fraser Forster beaten. Relief at Parkead!
The Juventus mentality will be to hold on to what they have. Scott Brown's shot is blocked before Adam Matthews picks him out again, but his touch lets him down.
Celtic play a short corner to Charlie Mulgrew who sends in a delicious delivery for the unmarked Efe Ambrose, who heads the ball down and straight into the grateful hands of Gianluigi Buffon in the centre of the goal. No doubt about it, he should have equalised!
Stephan Lichtsteiner looks to find Alessandro Matri in the box, but the goalscorer is in an offside position as the ball was played in.
Mikael Lustig is struggling and is the man who actually comes off with 21-year-old Adam Matthews on in his place at right-back. Looks like Efe Ambrose will play the full 90 minutes, despite playing in the African Cup of Nations final on Sunday.
Adam Matthews is being prepared to come on for Celtic. Efe Ambrose could be the man to make way, but he won't want to come off. Mikael Lustig's fantastic cross fails to reach the stretching James Forrest.
Emillio Izaguirre seemingly goes over a Juventus challenge for a foul, which is not awarded by Alberto Undiano Mallenco. The Spaniard will not have made many friends in Glasgow if the scoreline remains as it is.
Good pressure from James Forrest allows Charlie Mulgrew some space, but his touch lets him down and anywhere will do for Juventus. Very un-Italian like with the no-nonsense clearance upfield.
Celtic boss Neil Lennon must have been delighted with the way his side played in that opening 45 minutes, despite going a goal down and they've started the same way in this half. Cool in possession as Kris Commons is felled by Leonardo Bonucci.
Charlie Mulgrew's cross is cut out, but the early pressure is building. Mikael Lustig wins the ball in the air before Kris Commons' attempted overhead kick fails to trouble Gianluigi Buffon in the Juventus goal.
Celtic have to do it the hard way by coming from behind against the Serie A champions. A huge cheer greets the fact that the hosts have been awarded a free-kick by the man in the middle Alberto Undiano Mallenco.
If the second half is anything like the first, then we should be in for a belter. Aside from a defeat on penalties to Inter Milan, Celtic have not lost in eight games against Serie A opponents on home soil since AC Milan beat them 1-0 in March 1969. They've certainly got a game on tonight against an experienced Biaconeri side.
Juventus are showing why they have not lost away from home in Europe since March 2010. They lead Celtic 1-0 at the break thanks to an early goal from Alessandro Matri. The Italian stole in behind the Hoops backline before just squeezing the ball past Fraser Forster, despite Kelvin Wilson's best efforts to clear it. However, the whole of the ball had already crossed the line before Claudio Marchisio smashed in the rebound. Neil Lennon's men responded well with Kris Commons and Victor Wanyama coming closest to restoring parity. We should be in for a rollercoaster of a second half!
Juventus lead Celtic 1-0 as referee Alberto Undiano Mallenco brings an end to a helter skelter first-half.
Mirko Vucinic finds Arturo Vidal on the egde of the box, but his shot is blocked. Meanwhile, Celtic earn another corner as the board goes up showing one added minute of stoppage time.
James Forrest is shown a yellow card after sliding in on Andrea Pirlo. The atmosphere is unrelenting and the home supporters have been annoyed with some of the decision made by Spanish referee Alberto Undiano Mallenco.
Stephan Lichtsteiner is all over Gary Hooper from the second corner kick, but the ball is delivered straight onto the head of Victor Wanyama, who is free, but fails to hit the target.
Celtic pressure is building. Scott Brown is felled before Mikael Lustig's cross is deflected out for a corner. But before it's taken referee Alberto Undiano Mallenco hands out yellow cards to Gary Hooper and Stephan Lichtsteiner for pushing each other.
Referee Alberto Undiano Mallenco upsets the home supporters by giving an offside decision against a Juventus forward when Emillio Izaguirre was already in possession and making strides well into the opposition half.
Mikael Lustig's right-wing cross is met beatifully by Kris Commons with a delightful overhead kick, but it just drifts inches wide of the far post with Gianluigi Buffon beaten.
Scott Brown and Andrea Pirlo clash again before the Italian plays a wonderful through ball for Claudio Marchisio. Although the striker goes around Fraser Forster, the angle is tight, so he decides to send it into the box but Celtic head clear.
Victor Wanyama is penalised for a late challenge. Moments later, Scott Brown fells Andrea Pirlo, but the Celtic man has obviously been ordered to stay close to the Juventus playmaker.
Alessandro Matri and Mirko Vucinic combine well for Juventus and then Claudio Marchisio's ball is cut out by the busy right-back Mikael Lustig.
Celtic are enjoying some freedom down the left-hand side and now Mikael Lustig's through ball goes all the way through for Gianluigi Buffon to collect. This possession football is much better by the home side and manager Neil Lennon will be happy with how his side have responded since the goal.
Federico Peluso catches Kris Commons for a Celtic free-kick, but the ball to the back post is well dealt with by the cool Martin Caceres ahead of James Forrest.
The Biaconeri have settled into their rhythm very well. Emillio Izaguirre's left-foot cross is a good one but Kris Commons fails to read the bounce and can only send it over the crossbar.
The Bhoys in green and white hoops press Juventus back, but the Serie A champions pass the ball through Cetic's frontline. Now, Victor Wanyama is annoyed with himself after a poor tackle.
Neil Lennon's men will not give up so easily tonight and they create another opportunity through Kris Commons who tests Gianluigi Buffon with a low drive, which the Italian stops.
Alessandro Matri has scored in his last three games for Juventus now, which has truly sunk the atmosphere at Celtic Park. The hosts have responded well though and Kris Commons fell over in the box claiming he was pushed, but nothing was given.
Efe Ambrose fails to deal with a clipped pass behind the Celtic backline allowing Alessandro Matri to nudge him off the ball before getting a vital touch to the ball and roll it past the onrushing Fraser Forster. The ball just creeps over the line before defender Kelvin Wilson clears it. Claudio Marchisio makes absolutely sure from the rebound, but it will surely go down as a Matri goal to Juventus. Parkhead is completely stunned!
ALESSANDRO MATRI
Victor Wanyama picks up the ball and strikes a right-foot effort from 25 plus yards, which is parried out for a corner by a nervy Gianluigi Buffon. Gary Hooper claims he is felled from the resulting corner, but Spanish referee Alberto Undiano Mallenco doesn't see it.
The Hoops have lined-up in their usual 4-1-3-1-1 formation while Juventus have a 3-5-2 system with the use of wingbacks. Andrea Pirlo and his well-groomed beard, will be pulling the strings in the heart of that Biaconeri engine room. Celtic have only ever lost twice at home in the Champions League - and both times to Barcelona. The last time these two teams met in Glasgow, the hosts won 4-3. Let's hope for more of the same tonight!
The Old Lady and the East End Bhoys go head-to-head in this clash at what can only be described as an electrifying Celtic Park. Can Neil Lennon's troops write another illustrious chapter in their history tonight? The song "You'll Never Walk Alone" was played before the teams came out with thousands of scarves being held up. Then during the UEFA Champions League theme tune, the flags were flying in all corners of the ground. A truly amazing sight! The home side are in their tradional green and white hooped shirts, white shorts and socks while the visitors are wearing their away kit consisting of black shirts, shorts and socks. The pitch is in pretty good condition, while the weather is very chilly in Glasgow tonight, but the atmosphere is hot.
Neil Lennon has made nine changes from the side which beat Inverness Caledonian Thistle at the weekend. Fraser Forster and Kris Commons are the only two players retaining their place in the starting XI. James Forrest is welcomed back from injury while Efe Ambrose returns to the team after his African Cup of Nations success with Nigeria at the weekend and only arrived back in Scotland this morning. Full-back Emilio Izaguirre has recovered from a knee injury to start but one bit of bad news is that Greek talisman Georgios Samaras has not recovered from a hamstring strain. Juventus head coach Antonio Conte makes two changes to the side which recorded a 2-0 success over Fiorentina on Saturday. Leonardo Bonucci and Martin Caceres both come into a three man backline. Meanwhile, Mirko Vucinic and Alessandro Matri remain as main strike partners. Andrea Pirlo holds the midfield reins, joined by Claudio Marchisio, Arturo Vidal and Stephan Lichtsteiner. Federico Peluso also gets a start ahead of Ghanaian Kwadwo Asamoah. Celtic take on Italian giants Juventus in the first leg of this mouthwatering Champions League last-16 tie from what is bound to be a bouncing Parkhead this evening. Neil Lennon's team will be encouraged by their historic win against Barcelona in the group stages, and another huge result against the 28-time Serie A champions could put them within sight of a quarter-final place in club football's elite competition. The Bianconeri came through the group stage undefeated with three wins and three draws, including a 3-0 hammering of holders Chelsea at home as they look to win the competition for the first time since 1996. They were unbeaten domestically last season and have lost just three league games this season. They flew into Glasgow at the weekend straight off the back of a 2-0 victory over Fiorentina which took them five points clear at the summit of the table. The last two competitive encounters between these sides have produced 12 goals and Celtic are unbeaten in their last eight home games against Italian opposition in European competition, so let's hope we're in for a treat tonight.
Hoops boss Neil Lennon is expecting a 'special night' in front of 60,000 at Parkhead. The Northern Irishman is aware that his side will be underdogs for the clash, but will want to go to Turin in two weeks' time with a lead. He said: "It's the only show in town when Celtic are in Europe here. For me to bring these nights back is very special. We have been made out to be massive underdogs, but I don't see it that way myself. They play a totally different style to Barcelona, we will adapt. They are strong defensively, well organised and very consistent. We want to be in the tie going to Turin. The players haven't shown much fear going away from home this season."
Juventus head coach Antonio Conte insists his side will not underestimate Scottish Premier League champions Celtic this evening. "If anyone has underestimated Celtic, it has certainly not been us. We have great respect for them," he said. "We have followed Celtic very closely and they were very strong against Spartak, Benfica and Barcelona and even before that in the qualifiers. They are a very good team. We're going to have to be very, very careful here. I feel that a stadium of 60,000 people will be like a 12th man. It will be a tough game in Glasgow. It is one of the most famous and intense football cities in the world."
The Bhoys have only one major doubt for the match with Georgios Samaras fighting to be fit from a hamstring strain. Emilio Izaguirre and James Forrest are fit for selection while Lennon will decide on the fitness of central defender Efe Ambrose before kick-off. He played in Nigeria's 1-0 win over Burkina Faso in the final of the African Cup of Nations on Sunday night in South Africa, but was due back in Glasgow on Monday.
Giovinco has shaken off a thigh injury, but Conte has to consider their options before the match with Giorgio Chiellini suspended and Paolo De Ceglie missing with a thigh problem. Federico Peluso is set to replace Kwadwo Asamoah, who has spent the past month on international duty with Ghana at the African Cup of Nations.
The referee in charge of this encounter is Alberto Undiano Mallenco of Spain. The 39-year-old part-time sociologist currently resides in Ansoain. He is a two-times winner of the Don Balon Award - the best Spanish referee. His assistants are Roberto Diaz Perez Del Palomar and Jesus Calvo Guadamuro. Raul Cabanero Martinez is the fourth oficial on the touchline, with Fernando Teixeira Vitienes and Cesar Muniz Fernandez acting as the additional assistant referees behind the goal.
